build a rocket boys! A new beer from elbow, brewed by Robinsons.

build a rocket boys!

Multi-platinum selling Manchester band elbow designed their ‘build a rocket boys!’ beer after a series of tastings at Robinsons Brewery in Stockport, a stone’s throw from elbow’s Manchester heartland. Robinsons are probably best known for their legendary ‘Old Tom’ strong ale which has been voted ‘World’s Best Beer’ by the International Beers of the World publication.

John Robinson, Brand Manager at Robinsons Brewery enthuses: “We are delighted to partner elbow- not only do they genuinely enjoy a good pint of cask ale, but it’s also a perfect way to introduce their fans to the delights of drinking cask.”

Band members sampled a range of Robinsons’ ales to shortlist their preferred style of beer, taste and colour before deciding on a golden ale with a rich rounded body, smooth bitterness, subtle tang of malt and fruity aroma. elbow’s ale will be a golden premium session bitter at 4.0% ABV, available in cask and bottle.

After a hectic 2011, which saw the band complete their biggest arena tour to date including sell out shows at Manchester’s MEN and London’s O2 Arenas, plus numerous festivals across the world, elbow celebrated by pulling the first pints of ‘build’ at the official launch at the Manchester Food & Drink festival in October 2011.

Initially the beer was only set to be available in cask, but a surge in demand from across the globe led to a rethink which resulted in creating a bottled version of ‘build a rocket boys!’ With ‘build’ literally flying off the shelves we have brewed a second batch of ‘build’ which will provide a further 20,000 pints of the ale!

Fans have followed the brewing of ‘build’from the milling of malt, to the mash tun, fermentation tank, printing of bottle labels and the launch. You can still enjoy the journey and insight to the brewing process on elbow beer facebook photo wall and, of course, let us know what you think!

About Robinsons Brewery

With an impressive lineage stretching from 1838 when William Robinson purchased the Unicorn Inn in Stockport, Robinsons Brewery has a strong heritage both in brewing and pub tenancy.

The passion and dedication of William Robinson and his descendants has seen Robinsons evolve into one of the UK’s largest family brewers, with 380 pubs across Cumbria, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Derbyshire and North Wales.

Our cask ales are all handcrafted at our Unicorn Brewery. We are most famous for our Old Tom ale, which is brewed from the original 1899 recipe and named after the brewery cat: we still use his original sketch of old tom as he basked in the sunshine in the brewery yard. We have a core range of ales including Unicorn and Dizzy Blonde and create limited edition seasonal ales, as well as supply supermarkets nationally with our bottled beers.
